Hail to BF.

Before i got married, i've read a lot about breastfeeding and how vital it is for baby's development. There are many bloggers at that time who 'fight' on breasfeeding and how much they emphasize on BF. Me myself agreed with them. I've been exposed to BF since i was small because my mak is full-time housewife and having seen all my younger sisters and brothers fully breasfed by mak made me think that BF is not a peculiar thing. Its normal for a mother to breastfeed their babies. And till now i cant think of logical reason for some mothers not to breastfeed their baby.

Now come to my own experience. Im blessed because my milk came out a day before i delivered my baby. And i've got to experience the first time of feeding my baby, right next after he was delivered. It was surreal!!! I was in amaze how a tiny creature who has just been born knows how to open his mouth and suck on the milk. Macam dah pandai-pandai je. hehe.

The first few days, Muizz refused to latch on due to insufficient shape of my nipple (haha) and lack of milk. He cried a lot and loud(!), but mak kept repeating 'Bagi jugak... Biar die nangis dulu. Nanti kalau dah start bagi botol, die langsung taknak.' So, tahan je lah telinga listening to his cries, tho sometimes i cried as well.

After a week, my baby was feeding well. The next problem is pain lingering around my breast each time i feed Muizz. It was my first time obviously and it's quite hard to properly latch on with his tiny mouth. On the 6th day, my nipple became sore and started to crack and bleed. Luckily it only happened on one side so i was able to feed my baby on the other side. Seriously, the pain is unbearable. I cant even wear bra at that time.

I did my research and i realized the reason of that is my baby did not latching on properly. So the correct way is:

How do I latch my baby onto my breast?

baby latching on
To feed well, your baby needs to use his tongue to scoop in a big mouthful of your breast.

Your baby's bottom lip and tongue need to get to your breast first, and touch your breast as far from the base of the nipple as possible.

Bring your baby to your breast with his head tipped back. He should be leading with his chin. With his head tipped back, let his lips touch your nipple.

Your baby will respond by dropping his lower jaw.

Move him quickly and smoothly to your breast, aiming his bottom lip as far away from the base of your nipple as you can.

From babycentre.co.uk

Well. Easier said that done, i still experience the pain recently. Tapi tak la sampai berdarah. The nipple became really sore. There are times i forced myself to tahan the pain sampai keluar air mata each time my baby was feeding. :(

But the pain comes and goes. Lucky me it only happen on one side at a time. So im able to still breastfeed directly while pumping on the other side.

Pregnancy does a lot of things to me. My breast is huge that i always compare the size with my baby's head during the feeding haha. Breasfeeding is fun but talking about what BF do to your breast; the pain during feeding and the pain if not feeding. The breast become engorged, producing too much milk and making breast leak. I've got to experience this once when i left my baby to the bank. Mula-mula tak perasan, sampai la my sister tegur dah basah baju. lol.

Its a new experience for me. But im still waiting for more exciting things to happen next. Muizz is now a very healthy baby. The next clinic visit is next wednesday for his 2 months jab and rasanya he can reach 6 kg at that time. Sekarang feeding him pun dan rasa lenguh lengan.

Cant wait to weight me as well.

Of pumping and breastfeeding.

A little story to share.

When i arrived home last saturday that i learned my sister has stopped breastfeeding her 5 months old boy. And worst, her milk is receding too. It's not just happened recently but when the boy was 3 and half months old. She is a working mum just like me and when she delivered this second baby she started to actively pumping her milk, stored and gave to the baby when he needed.

Basically it was done to ensure that the baby got full benefits through mummy's milk. And also to train the kids with bottle once she returned to work. It goes on as planned. When she was at school, the pengasuh or my mum will feed the baby by using the bottle. But it's still mommy's milk. When she returned from work, she will feed the baby directly. And keep on pumping the milk for storage.

Knowing herself, she worried that her milk will not last long. So, when the baby reached 3 months, she started giving the baby formula milk. But she still mixed it with her milk. But, more with her milk la..

She was still feeding the baby directly, pumping and feeding the baby with her milk with bottle when she's at work as well as mixing with formula milk. One day, the baby didn't want to be fed directly. He preferred the bottle. When my sister tried to feed him, he refused but when she pumped the milk and put into the bottle, he will drink it. It was sad btw but how to force a small innocent baby.

When my sister asked the nurse, she said, maybe because the boy didn't like the real nipple and prefer the teats from the bottle. That's answer the question. And as we all know, mommy's milk will recede once the baby stopped feeding. And sadly, now her milk is i can say gone, empty, and the baby keep on feeding with formula milk. And he's not 6 months yet.

Every night, instead of just lifting up the tops to feed the baby, she has to wake up 3 to 4 times a night to prepare the milk for her baby.

This is her firs time that she actively pumping and giving her milk with bottle when she's at work. She didn't do this for the first child. Ironically the first child was fed until he was 2 years old. So, what my sister advises me is, you can pump the milk, but make sure the baby doesn't like the teats more than the nipple, because once he refused to be fed, that's it. Feed the baby directly as much as possible without using the bottle.

Well. i think everyone's experience is different. But this one, i can learn from it too.

There's more to it.

There are phases in life that we wish it didn't happen such as putus cinta, lost the loved ones, fail in exams, dreams don't come true etc. They are such events in life that we call iincident which always means BAD. Seriously, who wants to be in a risky relationship that you know sooner or later you may loose it- the one you love. Perhaps many people have experienced it where you are really in love with that guy and suddenly he pulled the rope out. OMG, seriously the feelings are unbearable. You are still in love with him, feel closely attached to him in all other ways (you know when girls fall in love); suddenly he says he's not in love with you anymore.

Yup. Guys have the tendency to do that. I don't know of woman. Anyone have did this to anyone?

And at this phase of life you feel so lost, so alone, so miserable, so out of place. Everything you do is not right. And the person who supposed to be your lover have abandoned you- away. And you can't reach him or anything in between.

And you started to blame the Almighty of why this miserable things happen to you. Why the happiness doesn't last long, i mean forever. Why does your dream plan doesn't come true. Why?

You completely forgot the fact that you have been in ectasy happiness for the whole time you've been in love with that person. You have been so completely problem-less when all your plans go exactly you want. And at that time you forgot to be thankful to Him of that. You forget all the good things that happen to you for perhaps 23 years of your life; because once you putus cinta at the age of 24, you said He doesn't love you.

Have you ever ponder what did you do wrong before. Maybe in the relationship you have hold hands with the boyfie or girlfie. Or maybe more. Who knows?

And as for me, i've been so completely miserable all this while i've been away from my husband. It is misery yup. But once i encountered God di tikar sejadah, i started to feel calm. Husband has helped me a lot. We've been on the phone a lot, and go to and fro- imagine how much we spend on this.

I or the husband may did things that upset Him before that He tests us on this now. Realization it is.

Looking around me, i've seen much more complicated things happen. And i wonder why they still contue it when they know and realize there's no future for the dream- the so-called relationship. Don't continue the relatinship if you know there's no way you are gonna be with that person, sooner or later.

Baik menangis meraung sekarang daripada meraung 2 atau 3 tahun lagi. Because the effect is the same. Trus me. There's more to it when we don't get exactly what we want. We may get better.

Trust me.

10 Alasan terburuk untuk berkahwin.

i read this in Mingguan Wanita 19-25 November 2010.

1- Terlanjur. (Nasi sudah menjadi bubur...)

2- Rapat dengan keluarganya. (Kalau dah hari2 pegi umah dia, bukan ke jadi cam adik-beradik. ish, nak ke kawin?)

3- Ikut rakan. (Cane ni.. sume kawan dh kawin ni. malu nye tak kawin2 lagi..)

4- Mahu penuhi impian keluarga. (erk? kita nak kawin ke mak ayah kita?)

5- Terlalu kerap bersama @ berdua-duaan. (ni bahay ooo..)

6- Dia cantik/ Hensem. (tet!)

7- Langkah baru dalam hidup sebab hidup dah sempurna. (ni biasanya kes pilot yang amat hensem. duit terlampau lebih dah. hidup sangat berjaya kan...)

8- Didesak. (kadang-kadang susah nak deny bila SEMUA orang di sekeliling mendesak. kan?)

9- Ditangkap khalwat. (ouch ouch. Sapa suruh cari pasal?)

10- Terhutang budi. (Terjual body. :p)

So, to all my friends yang seangkatan, let's reflect and think back what's the best that we have in our single life. find our strength and let's focus on it because we don't have 2 times single life!!

i quoted from Boy Meets Girl by Meg Cabot:

"...you have to find where YOU as individual, not Mr. Whoever You Marry, fits into the world..."

Muhasabah diri. Ask Allah and seek His guidance of what's the best for us because He absolutely has the answer.

footnote: bila dah umur mencapai suku abad, memang agak tertekan bila sedara-mara asyik bertanya soalan yang sama. habis idea dah nak ignore! :p

TQ for reading this entry. Assalamualaikum.

From bootcut to skinny.

it shrunk!

cerita 2008
this was the 1st time i bought a very pricey pair of jeans which cost me about RM190.00. it was from Dorothy Perkins. i bought this jeans after 4 weeks i consumed the Herbalife shake. at that time i lost quite inches here and there and this jeans was actually like a present for myself after having succeed cutting off the excess luggage on my body. heh.

it is a boot cut jeans and the size is 10.

..............................................

cerita 2009
it's been almost a year now. i left the jeans at home because i hardly wear it. i don't like to wear it because it makes me look fat. (i was fat indeed!). i am the kind of person who will wear one jeans for a very long time. until i found a new suitable and comfy jeans then i will change. i bought myself a new jeans this year from levis. my first ever levis bought with my first ever pay.

heheh.

back to the Dorothy Perkins-bootcut-size 10- itu.

during the raya holiday i managed to send the jeans to a shop and got it alter. i want it to be like a straight leg jeans. but the end result was quite upsetting. it turned out to be a skinny jeans!!! i was sad when i first look at it. but after i wore it, it looks ok la jugak.

this is how it looks on me.
this is the clearer version.
i really need an honest comment. hanna said i look ok in this. but a male friend said i look kind of a geeky-school-girl-who-don't have future in life. lol~

so be frank, do i look fine in this, folks?

footnote: i am salivating over these.

The Darker the better guys.

a must read entry.

a new discovery on how to slow cancer risk has been found by two studies. the Harvard studies and from Israel's University of Haifa (IUoH).

IUoH did the study in 164 countries through the satellite measurements of night-time light. they found out that the most brightly lit had the highest rates of prostate cancer, more than double those in the dimmest nations.

the harvard researchers also discovered that woman that those who sleeps with the light on were about 60 percent more likely to develop breast cancer.

why is this happening?

they believe that artificial light at night may contribute to cancer, perhaps because it slow production of the hormone melatonin. and what is this 'hormone melatonin'?

Melatonin is a hormone in the brain that helps regulate other hormones and maintains the body's circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is an internal 24-hour time-keeping system that plays a critical role in determining when we fall asleep and when we wake up. Darkness stimulates the production of melatonin while light suppresses its activity. Exposure to excessive light in the evening or too little light during the day can disrupt the body’s normal melatonin cycles. For example, jet lag, shift work, and poor vision can disrupt melatonin cycles. read more about melatonin here. (taken from University of Maryland Medical Center website)

so people,
  • sleep in as dark a room as possible.
  • use blinds or shades if you live on a bright street.
  • keep a night light in the bathroom for midnight visit instead of turning on the overhead.
  • a red bulb is the best- the red wave lengths cause the less drop of the hormone.
as for me, i always love to sleep in a dark room. if i sleep with the light-on, i will wake up with red-eyed + migrain + feel like having fever; as if i don't sleep at all.

and i've never have a table light for the whole of my life. i used to dream to have a cute table light as some of my friends have it, but now i think i have the reason of why shouldn't i have a table light.

so, turn off your light and sleep.

Okeh.

i read (found) this in the library just now. actually, i just love the heel and the lipstick. heh.
it's even harder if you have a cute baby to take care of.

i respect all the super-working-mommies out there.

keep it on mommies!

Why do we blog?

ok. i haven't finished the text. yet.

after never ended readings, i am now overloaded with information. mainly about blog, bloggers, and blogging. phew~

asking myself the same question 'why do i blog?' i can't quite answer that question.

well. perhaps the question should be, why did i start? because once i got started, i was hooked. that may not imply to every blogger, but it was for me.

the easy answer that i can think right now is maybe i blog because i can. because it's the best place to inform and be informed by the hearts of the best bunch of people i've met and i've never met.

it is an addiction but like McD, i'm loving it.

so folks, why do you blog?

even, i can't resist myself to post this entry. and my debate text still...
